about

It’s the year 2030. Tasmania’s population has increased by a factor of 10 in the past decade. Through the late 2010’s and early 20’s the state’s exposure in the international touristic and cultural media reached unprecedented levels of saturation. After the word “MONAesque” won Oxford Dictionary’s word of the year award in 2021 it was clear that there would be no staving off the hoardes of ‘creatives’ flocking south from traditional centres such as Melbourne, Berlin, and New York. The state’s economy is booming, but in Hobart many lifelong locals are pushed further towards the fringes of the city and society. However despite the real-life difficulties, these people are eternally grateful to the recent arrivals for saving them from living in the isolation of such a cultural backwater. It is generally understood by the wider community that historians will regard the opening of Hobart’s first dedicated Twin Peaks themed bar as the true beginning of Culture in Tasmania.

After a lengthy hiatus and even lengthier recording process, Bi-Hour are back with a brand new album. Regional Indifference is a 20 track concept album that explores the attitudes within and towards living in a regional centre (even if it happens to be a state capital). The album sees the band operating with more ambition than ever before, and is a unique and unequivocal statement of purpose.
